DELICATESSEN / RETAIL ASSISTANT - FULL TIME

Responsibilities:
- Providing friendly, responsive, exceptional service to Delicatessen and Retail counter customers by answering questions, making recommendations, providing samples, and responding to requests.
- Accurately handle cash and process card sales
- Accurately follow procedures for receiving products, price marking, and restocking to ensure use-by dates are adhered to.
- Follow all inventory control procedures to maximise product freshness, quality, turnover, and availability for maximum sales.
- Recommending, portioning, weighing, packaging, and pricing products.
- Keeping the entire area spotlessly clean at all times
- Updating displays and other customer-facing areas to ensure all products look their best at all times
- Ensuring that work areas are ready to service customers by cleaning surfaces, equipment and floors, removing waste and confirming that equipment is in safe and proper working order.
- Following all food safety and sanitation procedures established by the company
- Cooperating with others to ensure customer satisfaction
The personal skills that are required for the job:
- Having a friendly and engaging personality, a good communicator and able to work happily during busy periods.
- Have a very keen interest in food and cooking from scratch
- Comfortable working with members of the public, able to initiate conversations, provide a sincere welcome and enjoy providing good service.
- Be willing to learn, take instruction and work under own initiative, supporting other team members and able to multitask.
- Assistants will be on their feet for most of the day and may be required to lift and carry trays and crockery, restocking shelves etc.
- An effective, well organised and efficient team player.
- Numerate and comfortable with till operation and cash handling.
- Excellent standards of personal presentation, smart appearance and articulate.
- Food Hygiene training / qualifications or a willingness to train to basic standards.
